After a little more research I decided to give Plasti Dip a try. I ordered an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! from dipyourcar.com (~$50+$10 shipping). I'll try to take pictures throughout and maybe do a post documenting it all.

I used the basic black on my stock mustang rims and had a good experience with them. Pulled them off with no problems, no residue, rims looked new afterwards.

I am considering doing mine in Anthracite grey. Hope it turns out well for you. I've hard a lot of positive things about plastidip.

word of advice. Spray on a minimum of 5 coats. Any less and it won't peel off after. And a few coats of clear coat will do wonders. I did the rims on my genesis coupe. Pretty good results.

Did you use the aluminium color? If so, how does it look compared to actual aluminium?

sorry I have not used the aluminum color. I've used black, white, and blaze blue. I learned the hard way living in Detroit that without clear coat there will be lots of Knicks and scratches.
